Caring is Organic
It flows from the love and respect one has for family, friends and humanity .
Because we love, we care. Caring Is Organic
Caregiving for an elder by a family member or friend can be both rewarding and challenging. Rewards include the ability to feel confident that a loved one is receiving good care. Additionally, the caregiver relationship often provides opportunities to learn things about one another that might have been overlooked or taken for granted over the years. This opportunity can be priceless! But, there are challenges too - like learning how to manage many roles at the same time. For instance, in addition to caring for a parent, caregivers are often wives or husbands, mothers or fathers or daughters or sons who have many responsibilities. Cargiving does require a commitment of time, emotional support and the ability to exist in a dual relationship. Another challenge is that caregivers typically work alone and can become frustrated at the lack of new ideas needed to carry out the daily tasks of caregiving. Caregivers sometimes talk about a sense of isolation as they are unable to find the support typically experienced in a workplace setting. Finally, it can be difficult to find other caregivers with whom to share concerns and when found – to have the time to talk!
Caring Is Organic (CIO) values the role of caregivers in community based care for the elderly and believes that this work requires both a commitment to caring for an elder(s) and caring for oneself.
